Triceps injury: Tennessee Titans hope quick return of centre Eugene Amano to action – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans are hit with an injury setback to their centre Eugene Amano while competing for the starting job at training camp in absence of Kevin Matthews who was recently ousted of the side with return of concussion symptoms.
Eugene injured his triceps in a collision with teammates during a team drill on Thursday and it was unclear until filing of this report how much time he is going to spend on recovery and rehab.
Coach Mike Munchak insists the player’s injury is not a serious one and he should be able to return to action within a limited timeframe. The official, however, refrained from giving a timeline for return of the centre. He said:
"He got it caught it caught. I think a helmet hit, but I'm not sure. A lot of times once the soreness settles down, it's not an issue."
Mike did not elaborate that the absence of the player for a lengthy period will have an impact on the team’s overall performance, given they are already without their present leader Kevin.
The return of symptoms is the most common setback to the recovery from concussions. This is the reason that neither the team nor Kevin himself has given a timetable for his comeback to the squad.
Meanwhile, Eugene is expected to take a week or more to report back his recovery and fitness.
Apparently, both sides have not given any detail if they have got some tests done on the affected arm of the player to know the gravity of the injury. This leads to reason that it may not be anything serious such as fracture.
The coach nevertheless is aiming to take the team forward from the previous year’s 9-7 record. He did well during his first year, helping the side to improve from the 6-10 performance of a year earlier.
The official was promoted by the team from his assistant coaching position to accept the head coaching responsibilities in 2011. Bud Adams, the ambitious owner of the team, has already backed Mike to be their coach in the longer run.
