I have a car w/ a dead battery , (06 Ford Fusion) and won't be able to drive it for probably a cpl more months...( going thru probate...)

So I am wondering, if I hook up a solar trickle charger to the cigarette lighter, will it eventually charge the battery back up enough to start it ? and leave that way until I can put it on the road ?

  1. Sure, This should work great! No worries mate!

hope everything works out for you!

  2. After a battery goes dead it is usually just going to stay that way no matter how many times you charger it you may be able to start it but after you shut it off for the night it will just die you are better off buying a new battery.

  3. um it might but then again it might not but leaving the battery dead for a long time can ruin it so i woul djust charge it up and start the car from time to time even if you cant drive it

  4. is some cars yes it will work . on allot of the newer cars, the power to that cigarette lighter is controlled by the ignition, so the key has to be on for it to work. if the fusion is like this, your key on accessories might be more than the output of the charger. but if it is not like the situation that i have mentioned, then you can do this , but it could take quite a while.

  5.   Dead is dead.... But how long have you had it sitting and is it really

dead or just in need of a recharge ?   It's always good to run a vehicle

at least once a week for a bit. (NOT by you till your ordeal is over),

Once your sentence is over, you'll be ready to go.  That battery is

only two years old now that I think of it. Why would it be dead.

Can't your folks take the car out for a spin for you. Start with a

slow battery charge. Not really a trickle, a 10amp should do for

      a specific amount of time....

      Good luck..

  6. yea it will charge it, slow, but it will charge it.
