Question:

Tricks for getting smell out of a wetsuit?

Like the title says, I've got a wetsuit that is fine when it's dry. Once it's wet though and I come in from a session, it reeks like no other. Anyone have a good trick for getting the smell out without harming the suit itself?

  1. soak it in a tote with dishsoap

  2. There's a product on the market that is a sure fire way to get out that ugly smell, it's called Febreeze.

  3. I live walking distance to the  beach so I usually still have my wet suit on when I get home.  I get in the shower with it on, strip it off and leave it on the floor of the shower while I clean myself up.  So it gets washed by all of the shampoo and soap that I am using.  I give it a final rinse and hang it up to dry.

If I end up not wearing it home I take it out in the back yard and hose it off and hang it up.

My wet suits don't stink but I don't think there's anything you can do about booties.  They are just destined to be toxic.

  4. don't pee in it

  5. after you do a session with it always clean it or rinse it with freshwater, and try to buy some wetsuit cleaner from your surshop

  6. For starters (I know I'm guilty of doing it as well) is not to pee in your suit.  But sometimes you're in the middle of a good sesh, and you don't wanna leave, but you just gotta go right?

The main thing is to hand wash the suit using organic soap from a holistic foods / farmer's market, like Henry's or Wholefoods.  Unlike regular soaps and detergents, the organic soap won't break down any of the seams or any other vital parts of your suit.  I usually do this about once a month if I'm using the suit almost daily.  I think the funk in your suit has seeped in deep if it still reeks after each sesh.  Keep washing out the suit after each sesh with freshwater, but you might want to even try washing it with the organic soap every weekend.

"Nui" is a good brand, as well as "Get Clean"

Just make sure it's organic, and you should be safe.

And of course, always air dry the suit.

  7. Probably hasn't been clean in quite a while. Delicate cycle, cold water with a tablespoon of Mr Bubble or similar bath flakes.

  8. Don't p**s in it anymore

  9. I would buy a ton toxic organic natural dish soap and soak it in the tub and then after that just wash it immediately after every use.

  10. soak that **** lik its ur baby put every soap in ur house in a bath tub an get in ther wit it and rub a tub tub in that bath tub and wash that mother ****** lik its ur woman
