  1. if you drive a truck...leave the tailgate up and remove any covers...you want an empty truck bed (saw this on Myth Busters)

  2. Take short cuts, don't turn the AC or heat all the way up. Buy a hybrid ^^

  3. slow down, and dont gun it when taking off

  4. 1. slow down,   this is the most effective.   It takes energy to push the air out of the way.

    2.  long,  slow,  smooth acceleration.    Your car never uses more fuel than when gaining speed.   The harder you push the pedal,  the more fuel it burns.

    3.   more following distance.    Yeah,  I know,  some idiot is going to suggest drafting,  but that isn't that effective and raises the chances of accident as well.  More following distance makes it easier to see around the car(s) in front of you,  means you can see the light or stop sign earlier,  and coast in.  You don't have to react to the car in front,  less braking and speeding up.   If you need to pass,  you can speed up at a slower rate and move out to pass at a higher speed,  and spend less time in the other lane as well.      More following distance lets you plan ahead and drive your car.

  5. Stay at a steady speed, no start and stop. And don't listen to the person who says turn your car off at a red light and turn it on to go. You burn much more gas that way and it's hard on the engine. Let off the gas when approaching a stop sign or light. Don't "rev" the engine. Keep your tires inflated to the proper PSI. Don't go down the road with your windows wide open, it creates drag and your engine works harder and uses more gas.

  6. Use your neighbors gas!

Turn your engine off on a stop sign/red light, then turn on when you know that the light is going to change!

  7. Brakes are for stopping dont ride them

    Don't let the car idle

    Choose your parking spot wisely

    Keep your tires properly inflated

Lighten up and don't haul anything you don't absolutely need, around with you

Don’t fly flags on your car

Do not fill your tank up completely

Try not to stomp on the gas anymore than you need to

Likewise, try not to slam on your brakes

Plan your route to avoid traffic jams

    Quit using A/C

    Use your cruise control

    Keep your car tuned up

  8. Roll your windows up.  Inflate your tires properly

  9. - drive as smoothly as possible

    - avoid revving the engine loads

    - avoid slamming on the breaks, use them only when necessary. Anticipate the road ahead.

    - turn off air-con

    -  use cruise control, where fitted
