lets see how many people can get this problem right:

find a set of 10 numbers where the mean is greater then all of the numbers

  1. that's like really hard

    is it impossible?

    if someone else answered this i swear i didn't look at their answer

    i spent like 15 minutes trying to find out the answer.

    the closest i got was 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. the mean is 11. argh!! :P

  4. This is not possible.

    Suppose all the numbers are the same, say X. Then the mean is X.

    Now take any of the numbers and change it to Y which is < X

    Then the mean is (9X + Y)/10 which is less than (9X + X)/10 = X.

    So the mean is always less than the largest of the numbers.
