Trifollet dominant in the lineup for Cottesmore Maiden Hunters’ Chase on 28th February
The Class 6 Cottesmore Maiden Hunters’ Chase is to be held on Tuesday, 28th February at Leicester over two miles, seven furlongs and 110 yards. Winner among the five participating will get entitled to the £1, 248 purse.
The five on the lineup include Findlay’s Find, Keen Whip, Shales Big Wood, Trifollet and Twiga Woods.
Trifollet, Kirkwall’s seven-year-old bay daughter out of mare St Doughla ‘S, is still to strike a career victory as she has remained winless through the four starts that she has made as yet, two in 2010 and two in 2011.
Trifollet’s 2010 season was not constructive at all with an eighth and seventh position in the two attempts she took during the year.
Her season’s opener for 2011 was the Bet Totepool At Totesport.Com Hunters’ Chase on 17th April at Stratford over two miles and seven furlongs. Trifollet was second behind the winner, Moment Of Madness, who led by seven lengths.
The evening’s favourite, Battlecry, had to discontinue racing after slipping up a bend.
Her next start was in the Pointtopoint.Co.UK Champion Novices’ Hunters’ Chase on 27th May at Stratford over three miles and four furlongs. She was declared unraced after making blunders and mistakes during the race.
She is in for her 2012 seasonal debut today and if she succeeds in posting a victory through this one or not, remains to be seen but will come in the open very soon.
Keen Whip, Keen’s ten-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare Magic Whip, has only made total two outings in 2010 and 2011 and has failed this far in posting a victory.
His first career start was in the John Wade Skip Hire Novices’ Hunters’ Chase on 10th March 2010 at Catterick over three miles and one and a half furlongs. Entered as the 5/1 favourite, Keen Whip became unstable and knocked the jockey down right
at the beginning of the race.
His next and last start was in the John Wade Skip Hire Novices’ Hunters’ Chase at Catterick on 9th March. He finished the race third behind the winner while the 5/2 favourite of the, Lem Putt, finished fifth.
