  1. Every Christmas Eve we'd be up till dawn cleaning, painting, polishing, etc (yuh know de last minute Trinis)

Resh girl ah agree with yuh on dem bulbs - pressure!

My Christmas smells were of furniture polish (thank God we have upholstered sofas now - imagine polishing chairs with twists and curves like mad and that was my Job - Polish furniture and shine windows)

Baked Ham and Fruit Cake heavenly smells coming from the oven - ever pinch a smooking hot ham!

Punche de Creme, Rum Punch, Sorrel and Gingerbeer ah sampling all (mummy taste tester) and boy did I drain those alcohol and cherrybrandy bottles.

Giftwrapping till yuh hand hurts like crazy

Christmas Morning breakfast - gimme freshly baked bread and ham with pepper, ketchup, honey mustard and a little touch of my Aunt chow chow!  Wash it down with a heaping class of Sorrel

Christmas lunch - make sure meat take up 3/4 of de plate or should I say platter!

Oh gosh that reminds me I should start compiling  my Christmas Shopping Lists and begin Shopping (I like to buy a few items every month so in December ah doh feel it)

  2. To tell you the truth Ts, all l could remember about my chilehood Christmas, is getting up early Christmas morning and smelling that plastic tablecloth, ah can't remember the exact name they used to call it but when yuh smell it yuh know is time to eat ham and get present. l was last chile so l didn't use to do no housework, so ah don't have no memory of all the hard wok involved, Tanty used to handle that!

Breakfast: Fresh home made bread, slices of ham, eggs. Steaming hot cocoa tea. yumm.

Lunch: Some kinda fancy rice, callaloo in a bowl by itself, red beans with plenty pigtail, slices of dasheen, plantain & beetroot, macaroni pie with minced meat mixed in(love that),

chicken stuffed with biscuit, liver, raisins (used to wait till they niggeritis set in an go tief the stuffing), salad (my fave, cabbage, mayo and raisins) or potato salad with beetroot & boiled egg. Topping off that was always rich, milky soursop.

I used to ask for water first to get that food down properly eh.

  3. christmas eve was always the best.

we still used to be up late hanging tinsel an decorating the christmas tree, the final touches..

still putting up curtains, the whole house jus had a different look, smell, atmosphere in general, everything.

usually we does be kinda frustrated too, yuh know ehen one bulb blow on the string of lights half doh work!!!!

    so we busy exchanging bulbs!

christmas morning breakfast (i am not a breakfast person) usually is some chocolate chip cookies, marshmellows & pringles, all during the year these things selling eh, but only christmas we used to really buy it!

every year when i was small my mother used to buy a new outfit for me for christmas day, so ah feeling nice when ah done bathe an dress up.

lunch then is the same lunch now, fry rice, bake chicken & turkey, dhalpuri roti & curry duck.. an shandy & malta to wash it down with (ah cuda only get the "soft things" nah)

jeez christmas better hurry up an come yes, me looooveeee christmas!!!
