  3. It depends on what you're looking for...

For a relaxing, beach-type vacation Tobago is what you want.  Beautiful green island, wonderful beaches, swimming and food - I can still remember the curried crab we had from a beachside vendor.

Trinidad's beaches are mostly silt washed up from Venezuela.  The island is beautiful and populated with a large population of East (West?) Indians.  You will see women in saris/kurtas and eat wonderful Indian food.

  4. Trinidad is a excellent place with a strong East Indian Heritage, East Indians are the largest Ethnic group on the Island, Trinidadian food has a strong Indian influence, Roti and Dhal Puri are the national dishes.

The Savannah in POS is a great place to chill, make sure yuh get some jelly coconut and just lime and watch the world go by.

My family are from Guyana which has a even larger Indian population (51%) and i am a mix of East Indian and European.

I have been all over the Caribbean - Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, BVI, Anguilla, Antigua, St.Kitts, St.Martin, Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and Dominica and Trinidad is one of the best places out of all of them to visit.

Trinidad also has Chinese, Europeans and Syrians and of course Africans who are the 2nd largest Ethnic group.

All these people arrived on the Island due to Slavery and it's emancipation, there are very few Amerindians on the Island, they are the Indigeneous people like the Native Americans and people of the Amazon.

Many placenames are of Amerindian, French and Spanish origin, the local Creole/Patois is a mixture of French, Spanish, African and East Indian words.

Trinidad is one of the most developed Islands and is pretty modern due to a rich economy.

Make sure you try Roti, doubles and bussupshut !

  5. I stayed on the beautiful island of Tobago back in 2005, well it was actually my wedding day also.

Very beautiful, unspoilt island... it captured my heart and one day I would love to go back.

We were told to avoid Trinidad however as it had become crime-ridden.
