Trinidad & Tobago 148/9 (20/20 ov) v Yorkshire 154/4 (18.5/20 ov) - Yorkshire won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)
Yorkshire got through the qualifying phase in the ongoing Champions League Twenty20 after beating rivals Trinidad & Tobago by six wickets in Wednesday’s clash, at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
Satisfied with his side’s performance, Yorkshire skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Gale-c1039 said, “We are over the moon to get through the qualifying phase. We felt we could have bowled them out, it was a little bit below par, we need we had to play well. Me and Jaques didn't get many runs, we needed something special, Ballance and Adi provided it.”
“Ballance has played some special knocks for us in the domestic competitions for us. Adil has batted twice in pressure situations, he has played phenomenally well, I take my hat off to him,” he continued.
Trinidad & Tobago chose to bat first after winning the toss, and while their batsmen were given a tough time by Yorkshire bowlers, they still managed to amass a total of 148 runs on the board to give their opposition a run for their money.
The side had a terrible start though, where they lost their top three batsmen for only eight runs. A start like this put them on the back foot, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299 pulled off a face saving partnership.
Finally with 101 on the board, the partnership came to its end on the wicket of Bravo, who was picked up by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AU-Rashid-c1106 after smacking 45 runs.
Ramdin later found his way back to the pavilion after crafting a beautiful innings of 59, as he played a crucial role in helping his team post a fightable tally.
Yorkshire had an equally devastating start to their innings, losing two wickets with only 16 on the board.
Nonetheless, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JE-Root-c66745 and A Lyth brought some stability in the middle as they took the score to 44 before Lyth fell after hitting 18 runs.
With 51 runs on the board, Root was caught and bowled by KYG Ottley after he had scored 16 runs off 18 deliveries.
GS Ballance and AU Rashid then took the game away from the opposition as they stayed unbeaten on 64 and 33 to win in 18.5 overs.
