Trinidad and Tobago’s national hockey teams to participate in the Four-Nation tournament in Canada
The eighteen-member senior men’s and women’s national squad of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) are going to take part in the Four-Nation Classic tournament which is going to be held at Wright Field, University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada, from July
15 and conclude on July 24.
The men’s national hockey squad, led by Darren Cowie, T&T Hockey Board Player of the Year, will be up against the Canadian national side along with Chile. While the women’s team will compete against Chile, Japan and Canada along with the Canadian A side.
T&T men’s national hockey team, also known as Calypso Stickmen, is not in a great form as they have recently lost a four-match series against USA by three to one. They had to face defeat in the first three matches of the series, where they were lost to USA
by 4-2, 3-2 and 3-2. However, in the last encounter of the series they showed a much improved performance as they defeated the US men by 4-2.
On the other side, the national women team is in a good form as it recently whitewashed its neighbouring country, Guyana, in a three-match series, winning by 6-1, 7-0 and 4-0.

The team will be coached by Bas Deuin, along with the assistance of Glen 'Fido' Francis, while Nataki Akii-Bua will be the team manager. Shurlan Bonas will provide his services as a massage therapist and Candice Thomas as a physiotherapist.
