  1. It's not by some accounts, it's a fact, Mugambi got $250.000.00 to step aside, Hearns wanted no part of Mugambi, and with good reason.   Tito's loss Hopkins was at least as valiant as John's war with Hagler and they both gained in stature in their efforts against the best middle weights of their eras.  Both Tito and John were heavy hitters, and Tito does have the DeLa Hoya victory to offset his Roy Jones loss.  Very difficult call between two evenly matched sluggers.  Trinidad was a slightly better boxer, but Tito also took a lot more punches and was slightly inferior defensively to John.  Mugambi also has a slight size advantage over Tito to offset any power edge Tito may have had, and both had KO power to spare.

I can't pick a clear winner, this one is too close, and as much as it bothers me to cop out like this, I got to call this one a draw.

  2. lets make this at jr middle.

trinidad is the better boxer here, and he does what dwayne thomas did to him in '86/'87........tito in 3 rounds.

  3. I watched Mugabi in his prime and I watched Tito dominate the welters until his show against De la Hoya.  I think this might be interesting if only because Mugabi could punch like a mule but so could Tito and Trinidad was faster and a better boxer. Trinidad within 7 rounds.

  4. Mugabi would do what he did best, but I feel Tito who was hungry, pre retirement, would be smart enough not to go toe2toe with Mugabi he would be boxing and using his power to win a decision.

  5. great match -up! the beast would win in 3,hard punches and titio's chin is from china.

  6. Trinidad in his prime would have KOd Mugabi in about 5.  John Mugabi was a good boxer with incredible power but was a level below the elite.

  7. Both men have really good power and are tough.  Mugabi gave a great account of himself in his title try against Hagler and by some accounts, Thomas Hearns didn't want no part of him.  Trinidad won a controversial decision against Oscar De La Hoya.  Both are probably about equal in boxing skills, have good chins and power.  I believe that the Beast Mugabi would hurt Trinidad several times during this fight and finally stop him in 10 rounds of a good fight.
