Trip from Venice, Italy to Croatia to Greece?

Question

We are hoping to aviod planes, and tae trains, busses and ferry.

It is a leg of our backpacking trip and we are ultimatly going from Venice to Athens, Greece, but would really like to stop and spend a day or two in Croatia. We are hitting a dead end trying to plan it. Anyone have any advice/experience to share?
