I'm going to germany in 10 days. Should I exchange a few grand in EUROS now , before I go? And if so, whats' the best way to get the best exchange rates?

Or should I just use my credit card when I am there...?

  1. I would exchange some now and some when you get there. this way you have the fare to ride the train or bus from the airport to your destination.

  2. Get SOME Euros before you go, then use ATMs when you need more.  Its the best way to avoid a LOT of fees.

  3. get some cash b4 u go and the rest in travelers cheques as they are insured against loss/theift

  4. Check with your credit card company.  When my son went a year or two back with a school group, he was told that some credit cards were not accepted there.  You might get a 2nd card of a different type, just to be safe.  IE, if you have a Visa, get a MasterCard.  That way, if one doesn't work, the other may.  They were also told to make sure that credit card pins were all numeric - no alpha characters.

The trip organizers said they should change their money once they got to Germany.
