My wife is graduating from College in June and i want to do something special for her. I am thinking about surprising her with a trip to Paris. I dont want to go, so i would be paying for her and a friend. Can someone tell me where i should be looking to book a hotel at? City/Province/District... etc etc. Also, is 7 days long enough including travel time?

Thanks for the help.

  1. You don't want to go to Paris?! You probably have a good reason to.

I think 7 days is well enough to visit Paris and its surroundings. Paris is a small city.

Book a hotel? It depends  a lot on what kind of place you want and your budget. I would recommend www.hotelsmauricehurand.com/ because they have a variety of hotels, a good value for money and a great location.

    Hope you will like it.

  2. When I was there last summer I found a great price for a room on www.booking.com. We stayed at the Hôtel Balladins Paris VIII Confort. We stayed there around July 18th and the room was around 60euro (we booked about 1-2 months in advance) It was a great location, safe, and the right price. I suggest booking a hotel right in the city because then they can just use the metro to get anywhere.

I would say that you can write off the first and last days as travel days which gives them about 5 full days in Paris. If they packed their days full, they could see every single thing there is to see in 5 days. I suggest rather to pick the most important things and relax. Maybe go shopping at Gallerie Lafayette!

The louvre is massive... (we went on a friday after 6pm when its free for people under 25 or something and there was no lineup!)

Seriously if it is nice weather, tell them to take a blanket and a couple of bottles of wine and go sit in front of the Eiffel tower for sunset until the lights go on at 10pm.

You're wife is very lucky by the way! (I'm confused about why you would turn down Paris though!)

  3. Check out this website:

    www.hotelresidencedupalais.com

It's in the city, near Luxembourg Gardens and about 10 minutes from Notre Dame. About 50 Euros a night for a room with private shower in the room and a bathroom down the hall, with a balcony overlooking the entrance to the Gardens. It is small, and family run, but the guy who runs it is incredibly nice. He woke up at 2am the night before we were supposed to get there (there was a misunderstanding about flights), and let us sleep on an extra mattress in the laundry room for free as he was completely booked. Also, he speaks excellent English.

    I hope this helps!!

  4. paris!

look up stuff with travel sites online. Paris has alot of tourist attractions. but also, look into other cities she could travel to nearby with cool places to visit. basically google it up!

OR u cld take a trip for the 2 of u, a place where u wld wanna go too.... unless paris is a dream place of hers to visit.

but yea get the hotel in a downtown area. book it during the tour de france it u want-- my dad did tht for us n we got 2 c lance armstrong.

just no-- june n july r major tourist seasons and u need to book as far in advance as possible

its also sumtimes a better deal to book a hotel right outside the city n subway it in.

i think 7 days will prob be enough, but look at a list of possible things to do b4 booking
