Trip to Stamford Bridge will decide Manchester United’s title hopes: Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Manchester United’s trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on 1st March 2011 will decide Manchester United’s title hopes.
Manchester United are unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League since their home defeat against the Barclays Premier League champions Chelsea, back in March, 2010.
Ferguson insists that their away match against Chelsea will define their hopes of winning English Premier League title for the record 19th time. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Manchester United both have won 18 English First Division Leagues and Ferguson believes
that their ambitions of landing the record 19th English title will depend on the result at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Scottish manager has ignored the fact that the Red Devils still have to play two of this year’s title contenders, away against Arsenal and at Old Trafford against Manchester City. In addition to that, Sir Alex Ferguson’s team has struggled
on the road, and the Red Devils still have to visit their rivals Liverpool.
But, Sir Alex Ferguson, who has won 11 Premier League titles with Manchester United, tipped Premier League title holders, Chelsea, as the main threat to his hopes of bringing the 19th English title to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex said, "We go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on March 1 which will be a massive game and we have got to go to Blackpool who are in great form. It's going to be an exciting run-in, a real thrilling end to the season as five clubs are at the top.
"All five teams contesting the title have chances and it makes it interesting for neutrals. Tottenham are not out of it, and are improving their chances each week. We have games in hand but you have to win them. It's all about keeping your nerve and at White
Hart Lane defensively we kept ours."
Manchester United managed to hold Tottenham Hotspur to a goalless draw at White Hart Lane despite being one man down in the last 15 minutes.
Sir Alex Ferguson hailed his team defensive performance against the Spurs and added, "We defended very well. The kind of pressure we were under was just long balls into the box really. With Ferdinand and Vidic as your centre-backs you know you can cope with
that.”
With that draw at White Hart Lane, Manchester United are back on top of the League standings, scoring 45 points out of 21 league games.
