Trip to Tasmania?

Question

I am planning a 4 to 5-day trip to Tasmania in late June to early July.

Are there any suggestions?

Which place(s) I should go first and which place(s) I must go!?

4-5 days is quite a short time so I would suggest keeping to one area and doing it well and not try to see everything.

June/July will really be winter here, some attractions  like the overland track will be closed or restricted due to the weather conditions.

Freycinet national Park and nearby towns Bicheno and Coles Bay are beautiful year round, or base yourself in Hobart and do day trips to Port Arthur, Mt Field National park, the Huon Valley etc, also the west coast and wilderness areas around Strahan or something like Cradle Mtn Chaetau.

Lots of accommodation and pubs will have big open fires going but remeber to bring a good warm coat, gloves and hat

click on Activities and attractions, you will find all you will need and more to keep you busy - if you want to do the 'touristy' things.

This site is well constructed and very informative for potential travellers.  When you get here, if you go to any main centre information booth, you will find all the brochures, maps and any number of locals who will be willing to point you in the right direction of interesting sights and points of local interest.

Need a car first to see all the tiurist spots of Tas.Start from Launceston,drive up to north east coast to St.Helens(surf,san ans sea).Continue your drive down the east coast to the capitol (Hobart).Then head west to Queensland and Zeehan,accross country to north west coast (Burnie).From Burnie head to Launceston (heading north).When reaching L'ton drive down the Tamar Valley (west Tamar hwy),accross the Batman Bridge and back to L'ton along the easton hwy.All this can be done in about 5 days.Have a good time.

With only 4-5 days, I would concentrate on doing the east and south-east of Tasmania.  It is a very picturesque part of the world.

A must see is Freycinet National Park. Wineglass Bay is drop dead gorgeous.

Also, definitely take a look at Port Arthur. Hauntingly beautiful yet tragic at the same time.

If time permits, maybe make it Cradle Mountain.

Bring LOTS of warm clothes.  We were there in February a few years ago and it was freak*ng freezing. We actually had to go and buy warmer clothes!

You're going to love Tasmania! Have a safe trip.

First suggestion... take a thick coat.  Tassie gets awful cold mid-winter.

If you're into history... Port Arthur is a must; as is a stroll around Battery Point and Hobart (in general).

If you're into "scenery"... the Catarach Gorge (Launceston), King Solomon's Mine (Mole Creek), Russell Falls, and Strahan... the West Coast... Biceno... well, pretty much everywhere.

One interesting place (more a curiosity) is Doo Town.  It's just off the highway on the way to Port Arthur.  It's a small little "holiday" town.  It will only take a few minutes to see the whole place, but pretty much every house is named "doo".  As in "We Doo" and their neighbours "We Doo Too".  There's Didgeridoo, and many other very clever names.

Tassie's brilliant.  And don't forget to go to the top of Mount Wellington (Hobart).  The views absolutely brilliant.

Oh!!!  And of course (MOST IMPORTANT)... the Cadbury's factory in Clairemont.  YUM.

And if you really want to freak people out... when you leave Cadbury's... head to Bagdad.  I've been to Bagdad many times; and have a photo of me standing under the sign (entering Bagdad) to prove it!  LOL
