  1. If you actually have time to get out of the cities, there are lots of options from any of the three. "A couple of days" suggests you won't really have much time to enjoy the cities and also do outside trips though.

From Milan: a day at Como, Bergamo, or Pavia are all interesting and close.

From Venice: Padova and Treviso are both worth visiting. At a little further distance, Verona is an excellent destination.

From Rome: Ostia Antica, Tivoli (especially Villa d'Este and Villa Adriana), and Orvieto are interesting day trips. There's the Giostra (Joust) in Arezzo that could be worth the trip from Rome if it's when you'll be there. This includes a big costumed procession. The old town in Arezzo is pretty good.

  2. Go to Pisa to see the leaning tower! It is near Florence and one day is enough to see the centre the leaning tower and the cathedral. It is really beautiful!

I would also recommend you Ravenna, especially for Roman and Byzantine mosaics (it is also world heritage by Unesco).

I guess you already know classic stops: Rome, Venice, Florence...

-- I am Italian, I am near Bologna

  3. ben (second answer) is right, I'm italian too (from the North) and I've been in Rome last week!it's a wonderful city and there's a lot to do, so you can stay there all your "couple of days", everywhere there's something to see, to visit, something famous, something you've seen in a movie and so on...

if you are a bit careful (however not so much...)you don't spend so much and with no much money you can get bus tikets which is a very pratical way to go around the City...you'll be proud of your choice and you'll have a very good holiday even for a couple of days

  4. Naples isn't Venice,Verona,Rome,Italy is beautiful

  5. I'm italian...

come to visit Turin, where i live.. it's a nice city, gothic..

It has been the city host of winter olimpics gamens, so, there are a lot of monuments about it, and there is a really nice hill, on the top of it you have a wonderful seeing of all the valley...

    ciao!

  6. I went to Italy this winter.I visited Rome and I suggest you do the same, because it s a beautiful city and it s the capital, right?Vatican is close, so you can visite it, too.

There are lots of people in the winter and in the summer...it s very crowded but it is worth it. Good luck and have a nice trip!

  7. If you have only two days , I suggest you to visit  only Rome or only Venice. In two days you'll see just the main places in Rome or Venice. Enjoy your time here in Italy! Bye

  9. Do some research on Naples.

  10. I am from Milano, in the North, but if I'd have to choose, I'd choose the City of the Cities: Roma, if it's the first trip in Italia. There, really began the Italian History. It's full of Roman monuments and other centuries, even more there is some streets known in all the world, those streets celebrated by some very beautiful realistic films of 50th. You can walk under the sun eating an ice-cream, having pizza or going to any restaurant you want, without booking (but better a 'trattoria', 'traht-toh-réé-ah'), food and fresh white or red wine (according with food) at open air, looking the boys going by.
