  1. That hotel that Pebbles mentioned is NOT even in Puerto Rico!!

Anyway Puerto Rico  is a really nice place. Santa Isabel is on the South coast of PR. Its a regualr town, not too much to do, but it is still a nice place. There are beaches. It is close by to Ponce so there is a lot to do & see in Ponce, like Seralles Castle, The Old firestation, Guanica dry forest & you can go to Gilligan's Island or Caja de muertos for some really nice beaches. I suggest renting a car to get around. Also anything on the island is close enough to drive to within a few hours. . You can also see El Yunque rainforest, the bioluminescent bay (la parguera is close to you but not as good), Camuy Caves, Arecibo Telescope, Old San Juan & El Morro Fort, Vieques & Culebra islands, etc. If you stay another week I would suggest staying in San Juan or somewhere else so you can spend time in 2 different places. Enjoy :)

Also you will probably arrive at San Juan airport, there is also one in Aguadilla, they are both pretty far. There used to be one in Ponce but I dont think they are open anymore

  2. Stayed in Ponce(Southern Coast) in March for a week, you'll LOVE Puerto Rico. If you stay an extra week, I'd suggest getting a motel in or around San Juan as the Ponce/Santa Isabel area is about 70km from San Juan and most of the things to do and see are on the Northern coast. The beaches are wonderful, the people are amazing. The whole island is alive. I agree that you should rent a car, every where you go is a beautiful drive, especially the central mountains. The major highway connecting South to North (52) is a toll road. Have a blast, be safe as there are parts of the island with some crime, take and wear comfortable walking shoes when you go to Old San Juan and El Yunque. The memories will last a lifetime!!!

    Hotel Mision Santa Isabel

Some of the reviews of the condition of the hotel below might be a little outdated because my stay and obvservation of the hotel is that it was perfectly nice.

Arrived into Ensenada for the first time at night. Drove down the way too touristy strip and ugly touristy hotels. At the end of the main strip was the Mision Santa Isabel, splendid mission building and rooms advertised for $49, similar to the hotels on the strip. The concierge was super friendly. The private off street parking felt very secure and at times even had a guard. My room, 212, had a king sized bed, super clean. The bed & pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom had a cool sink with a floral inlay / paint in mission style and the walls, showers, floors were all beautifully tiled. Certainly chipped in some areas, and it was not super modern, but that was its charm. And it was clean and everything worked well. Hot water was fine, shower everything worked great. The floor was refinished wood floor, perfectly nice. It had a great closet with iron clothes hangers which was really cool. The concierge helped with a lot of travel questions and since I was traveling alone, it was nice. The only con was the dining area--I had the buffet breakfast which was overpriced ($7) for what it was. Could've gotten something cheaper and tastier in town.

    ENTHUSIASTICALLY RECOMMENDED!
