Trip to the Carolina's. HELP!

Question

We are looking at taking our 3 children to the Carolina's (6, 3, 2). What is the best beach to visit in the Carolina's? We are unsure if we want to visit North or South Carolina. We will go to whichever has the nicest beach and fun things for families to do.

Also we are looking at going in January, February or March. Will we be able to swim in the ocean this time of year. We are from Wisconsin so we can handle cooler water temperatures.

Please give me any helpful advice you can. This is one area my husband and I have never been to.

Since you are going in the off season go to either Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle in SC.  You will be able to get discount rates for hotels or condos.  There is plenty to do, but some attractions are only open for summer so check web sites.  The water is usually too cold for swimming in the winter months, (depends on how it feels to you)  but you can find a place with an indoor pool.
