Triple chance for Pat Rosney in Peterborough Puppy Derby Final

Trainer Pat Rosney celebrated a triple victory last night as each of his greyhounds came out on top in the semi-finals for the Bettor.com Peterborough Puppy Derby.

Little Sensation (5-4 favourite) was the first to produce a victory across the 420m at the Fengate track. Sensation was drawn with a trap two start in the first semi final race and provided punters with a comfortable experience as he pinged well and managed to sustain the early lead and eventually cross the mark in 25.28secs.

Sensation clocked the best time of the night beating Total Reality by four lengths, the dog was just off his last time by two spots, which reflects great consistency and great pace, and if he can obtain the same performance in next Wednesdays £5,000 final then he will surely stand a very strong chance in bagging the competition.

Vatican Hamish (3-1) out-paced Mark Wallis’s Bim Bam Boozle by just less than half a length in the second race clocking a time of 25.52secs given Rosney his second victory of the night.

Little Hawk (3-1) made it three wins for the trainer in the third semi final race. Hawk clocked a time of 25.42secs to beat Dean Childs Alfies Options by just over three lengths. Any punter who would have backed Rosney to produce a treble on the night would have landed returns of 35-1.

Rosney has had a terrific week, having only recently just landed the Williamhill.com Greyhound Derby “Win And Your In” with Little Gaffer, who as a result was rewarded a place in the upcoming English Derby which kicks off at the end of April.

Gaffer can be backed at 200-1 to take the English Derby which doesn’t suggest that he will be much of a threat but in the Puppy Derby Rosney certainly holds all the aces. Next week will see the trainer have half the field representing him, giving him a healthy chance of being crowned the new Peterborough Puppy Derby champion.

Draw for Wednesday’s £5,000 final (live on Sky Sports): 1 Alfies Options, 2 Bim Bam Boozle, 3 Total Reality, 4 Little Hawk, 5 Little Sensation, 6 Vatican Hamish.
