  1. It's a great idea to visit Egypt as it's so close to Cyprus.

Your best bet is to head for a local travel agent when you get here. To get the most out of a trip to Egypt you probably need to go for at least 2 days as the ferry takes several hours. Alternatively you can fly there but this will cost more.

Think about whether you want to see the main sites (eg the Pyramids in which case you need to get to Cairo but this is a long bus journey after you get off the ferry!) or just fly to a resort near the red sea - local travel agents offer cheap deals to places like Sharm el Sheikh from Cyprus but to be honest if you're going to make the effort to go there you should see the key sites, they are awesome. BTW our local agent in Polis is offering 8 day packages to Sharm el Sheikh for €200 euros.

There are other places you can get to of course. Why not try Jordan which is also amazing.

There's more information on where you can go from Cyprus on the following site but I'd also recommend exploring Cyprus itself. There's more than enough to occupy you for for 9 days, maybe get into the Troodos mountains for a few days.

    Enjoy

  2. Louis Cruise Lineas and Salamis Tours are the two companies organizing cruises to Egypt from Limassol.

Boats are leaving at 3pm - your full board starts with the dinner ( buffet or a 5-crs meal ). Entertainment, casino, swimming pool ( 'duck pond' ), tv rooms, sun decks...

Arrives Port Side at 6am next morning. After breakfast ( 8am ) and passport control a full day excursion to Cairo museum and Pyramids, inclusive lunch on a river boat in Cairo ( very good food and belly dancing show ). English speaking guide and entrance fees included. Convoy of excursion buses from your boat will be escorted by police cars and armed guards all the time, it will help you reach Cairo and back the quickest possible, no traffic lights respected for convoy-everybody stop to give you a way.

Return to the ship about 7pm, dinner, relax

Next morning just after breakfast you are back in Limassol ( 10-11am)

Depending on the cabin you chose it is from €150 p.p.

Another option is Cairo by plane: starts at 8am from Pafos ( transfer from/to yr hotel included ). 1hr 20min flight.

Much more time and places for sightseeing.

Return to Pafos around midnight ( same day ). Very tiring option but more interesting. You will need 48hours to relax after wards.

Price is almost double than for a cruise.

Whichever you chose, I wish you both a nice trip.

  3. There is a lot of interesting things about Cyprus!

If you are going on a package then your rep will have details of day trips to Egypt. Think it costs around £100. Not sure what that will be in Euros.
