Trish Johnson looks to end winless stint in India
English Trish Johnson, who currently ranks 12th in the Order of Merit 2012, is looking to grab her first title in the current season, as she gears up for this week’s Hero Women’s
Indian Open 2012.
The three-round event is being held from November 30th to December 2nd, at the prestigious DLF Golf & Country Club, New Delhi, Indian, with most of the LET (Ladies European
Tour) titans in the field.
Despite a fearsome lineup that will also feature defending champion Caroline Hedwall of Sweden, Johnson ranks among the hot favourites for the coveted title, as her past performance speaks
of her unmatched skills.
Although winless so far in the 2012 season, the English star has performed well in some of the tournaments, reflecting she is still one of the best players in the world.
She displayed a good performance at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open 2012 as she finished tied for the fourth position on the leaderboard.
The Unicredit Ladies German Open 2012 also saw Johnson do her best, but she could not win the title. She posted an overall 279 to take the share of fourth position on the leaderboard.
Johnson’s best performance was seen at the Tenerife Open De Espana Femenino 2012, where she shot an overall score of 280 to take the third position. She kicked off the tournament in impressive
style as she carded a 67 in the first round.
Her fiery form saw a sudden dip as she shot a 74 in the second round. Her putting was good on the greens. The resurgent star bounced back in the fourth round after she registered a 67.
Observers said that the English golfer can trouble rivals at Indian Open 2012, and she has already vowed to end her winless stint in the last two events of the season. They further said that
the Indian conditions are forecast to remain favourable, but it remains to be seen how she handles challenge from stars like Caroline Hedwall and Carly Booth.
Other key contenders are Spanish Carlota Ciganda and Caroline Masson of Germany. Ciganda currently leads the Order of Merit 2012 while Masson is standing at the second position.
