Tristan Lamasine defeats Laurent Lokoli 6-4, 7-5
French Tristan Lamasine overpowered compatriot Laurent Lokoli in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 in the third round of boys’ singles event at French Open, Roland Garros in Paris on Wednesday. Lamasine took an hour and 34 minutes to undo
his opponent.
The Frenchman needed a single break of serve in the first set to capture it 6-4. Lamasine delivered two aces and kept his first serve percentage at 67 percent, clinching 71 percent of the points on them in the opening set. The
unseeded converted 50 percent of the second serves into points and won 32 percent of the receiving points in the first set.
Fighting back in the second set, Lokoli broke Lamasine in the second game and consolidated on it to take a 3-0 lead. However, the Frenchman’s lead did not last for long as Lamasine broke back in the seventh game and held his serve
in the next game to level the score at 4-4. At 5-5, Lamasine broke again and served out the set in the next game, claiming it 7-5. The French converted both break points on Lokoli’s serve and succeeded in saving four of the five break points on his own serve
in the second set.
Lamasine will meet Robin Kern of Germany in the quarterfinals. The German defeated Lukas Vrnak of Czech Republic in the third round.
Oriol Roca Batalla beats Joao Pedro Sorgi 6-1, 6-1
Spaniard Oriol Roca Batalla upset tenth seed Joao Pedro Sorgi in straight sets to reach the quarterfinals. Roca Batalla dropped just two games in the entire match, winning the third round contest 6-1, 6-1 in just 50 minutes.
The Spaniard allowed Sorgi to win just a single game in the first set, breaking the Brazilian twice and clinching it 6-1. Roca Batalla did not impress with the first serve percentage as he delivered just 37 percent of the first
