Virat Kohli, the middle-order Indian batsman, is grateful towards the team selectors for giving him the chance to play for India, which he regards as a great honour and a matter of pride.
He argued that a number of players start the race for selection but only a few win, and he is one of the victors.
Kohli expressed these feelings after lashing a match-winning 81 off 103 deliveries in yesterday’s 2nd ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, at the Queen’s Park Oval, June 8, 2011.

Talking to media after the game yesterday, Kohli said, “I have been given a chance to play for India, which is not a small thing because you have 20 others with same talent are waiting for that kind of a chance. So why waste the opportunity given to me.
I got the odd game here and there in 2009. I was a replacement player then. I was very determined to do well at each opportunity."
The 22-year-old right-handed batsman is an emerging http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739, who are set to retire from International cricket soon.
Kohli first appeared on the international stage in 2008, in his maiden ODI against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
The right-hander was fortunate enough to represent the Men in Blue in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011. He performed marvellously throughout the tournament, maintaining consistency and form. He scored a hundred and a fifty in his maiden World Cup.
Representing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the recently concluded IPL season, Kohli emerged as the second highest run scorer with 557 runs, after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, who piled up 608 and earned the Orange Cap.
Now, the youngster is hopeful of continuing with the same form in the ongoing series as well.
