  1. The world's largest desert is Antarctica since a desert is defined as an area receiving less than 10 inches of precipitation per year. It covers 5.5 million square miles. The Sahara is the largest hot desert covering 3.5 million square miles.

  2. define desert!   Some artic regions also receive little or no rainfall.... not all deserts are hot sandy places.
