Trojan Vundo? Running windows XP with AVG anti-virus

How do I get rid of this? I'm running windows XP and have AVG anti-virus. I know there's a lot of results which come up on a google search, but I'm not too tech-savvy and I'm worried about making things worse.

  1. Ouch, thats a bad one, i can tell from personal experience.

    User bitdefender online scanner:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

    Then download and scan with Superantispyware

    www.superantispyware.com

    Then user Unhackme

    http://www.greatis.com/unhackme/download...

    Keep restarting with Unhackme until all threats have been removed, please be careful what you remove with unhackme as it will detect Windows components aswell.

    Disconnect your computer from the internet

    Run vundo

    Restart your computer

    Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

    If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

    Trojan and Worm Remover:

    The program will work for a full 30 days, after which it will expire.

  3. Go onto avg's website as they have a lot of programs to remove problems like this.

  4. switch off system restore and do:-

    Install, update and run a full scan using the free version of http://superantispyware.com

    Install, update, immunize and do a scan using http://safer-networking.org

    Install http://ccleaner.com and run the registry scan and fix all the issues that are found. Repeat this until nothing is found. Also run the cleaner scan and run cleaner.

    Reboot when you're prompted [a few times] and you'll be clean.

    You can now re-start System Restore if you wish
