Question:

Trojan virus wont delete?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I was on Y/A! and I was answering a question in the diet and fitness category and someone had given a link to a website which i clicked on and now I have a trojan. It's 'apparently' been deleted by Norton Anti-Virus but every time I run the scan the trojan is still there. Also in my picture folder there's around 25 files called BILDO.jpg with different numbers before the .jpg and I'm unable to delete any of them?

Anyone got any idea what I could do to get rid of them. Really slowing down my laptop.

Thanks in advance.

  1. I recommend that you use Clamwin for this problem.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB thumb drive. You install in a USB thumb drive as small as 64 MB.

First use another uninfected PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

    How to configure ClamWin

    http://support.real-time.com/open-source...

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

Set the preferences to delete or move virus to a quarantine folder.

Boot up in safe mode on the infected PC.

If possible, disable system restore on the infected PC.

Use the USB drive with Clamwin Anti-virus installed to scan the infected PC.

Scan memory and all hard drives for viruses.

Because it is free, the standard requirements for antivirus programs

would not be quite appropriate here. It doesn't have real-time

protection, so it can only be used as an on-demand scanner and doesn't

offer any real-time on access protection. However, this is where its

usability lies - as an additional layer of protection, it's very good.

With no real-time protection ClamWin won't conflict with any other

    Anti-Virus program.

Clamwin's programmers designed a unique scanning engine that no other

antivirus has so it increases the chances of malware getting detected.

The scanning engine scan everyfiles like it is searching for head lices with a tooth comb.

Most malwares are designed to attack popular antivirus products,

but since Clamwin is much less used, it's capable of fighting the viruses

    when industry leaders fail.

  2. Firstly, antivirus programs will NOT remove these as they are malicious codecs, although they may find reference to them and remove it but upon rebooting it's back again.

Therefore you need to use a 'layered' approach to removing this parasite.

    Remove Restrictions Tool:

    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/RR...

Download from Softpedia Secure Download (RO), install, run and check all boxes then click Apply and then reboot. This tool re-enables what codecs/viruses have disabled.

    Wallpaper Hijacker Removal Tool:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Wallpaper_Hija...

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

    RogueRemover:

    http://www.download.com/RogueRemover/300...

Download, install, update, scan and follow on screen prompts.

    Spybot S&D:

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl...

Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:

    http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_inst...

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

    SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

    http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

    VundoFix:

    http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/gl...

Disconnect your computer from the internet

    Run vundo

    Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode - tap F8 during boot before Windows splash screen and select Safe Mode.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

  3. The virus is probably being hosted by a backdoor trojan (malware) so when you delete its viruses the backdoor trojan will re-produce them.

    Run malwarebytes..best in safe mode.

  4. Go to this site

  5. Disable system restore & scan.

  6. If your computer has been accessing the Internet unprotected it is infected.

Spyware has surpassed viruses as the #1 threat to identity theft and without protection your Internet activities are never private.

To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.

There are top 10 the best and latest anti-spywares in 2008.

All are safe and can be trusted and you can download one.

  7. What about formating your own computer?

    That will format everything

  9. Try a few free programs.  I don't pay for programs nor do I illegally download them.

    Spyware Begone

    Doctor Alex Antispyware

    CCleaner

    Ad-Aware

    Advanced WindowsCare V2  Personal

    Spybot - Search and Destroy

    SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition

    Spyware Terminator

    Error Repair Professional

    a-squared Free

  10. First of all, click on your tools and press delete browsing history or internet options and then delete browsing history. Then go into your security software and run a full scan, then send the trojan into the virus vault.

If you don't delete your browsing history, the trojan will remain in the temporary internet files.

    Hope this helps.
