Trolling motor problem?

i have a motor guide t 45 thruster trolling motor.it doesnt turn off are switch speeds.ive been told its the power module(duro amp circuit board).but they dont make them are have them anymore at motorguide.is there anyway i can fix this so at least i have on and off.as soon as i connect the motor to the battery its on.off and the speed adjuster do nothing.

  1. I have a couple of motor guide motors with similar problems.  The modules are either not available or cost more than the motor is worth.  I would put a toggle switch in one of the wires from the battery.  The black and red wires are easily found inside the top cover of the motor.  You could mount the switch where ever you wanted it.


  2. I would need to see, to be able to give a good fix approach. If, you knew someone that know a little about electricity or electronics they may be able to look and tell you more.

    You could just bypass everything and mount a new on/off switch (Be sure it can handle the amps). I would buy some spray electrical cleaner at a auto parts store and try cleaning everything just to see what happen. It broke, so, it can not hurt. If, you can take it apart to clean, you may find something broke and easy to J B Weld and fix.
