Troops in Iraq on Task from God? Is this what we need?

What are your thoughts on this statement:

In an address last June, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God.".

I am a conservative Republican, but this is scary to me. I admit she handled herself very well on stage, but I think she made a mistake by bringing her children in, just as Obama did. I mean, are the kids off limits and not to be put in the spotlight unless it's for their advantage? This religious wack job who tells children soldiers are going to fight in Iraq on a task from God scares me more then Huckabee.

Do you think this is what we need? Do you think we need another 4 years of Bush tactics and our troops in Iraq?

  1. Great, she wants to launch a crusade...

    How medEVIL!

  2. No!  Enough people have died fighting in a fake war created by George Bush.

  3. LoL

I think God would've been able to see that there are no WMD's in Iraq

    Edit: Pat G, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2ypVSYoE...

  4. Just one example of what a crazy, far right religious nutjob lunatic she is.

  5. LOL! And they want Palin to win. Geez...

  6. the republican congress woman who spoke the day before yesterday said we needed to keep religion out of this.  the constitution and the BIBLE want to keep church and state separate.  and I don't believe God had anything to do with the decisions made in the war in Iraq.  I think a greedy Texas Governor who unsuprisingly wants to get his hands on oil fields in the middle east, and make oil companies even richer by passing laws to protect them.  It doesn't suprise me that she played that card either, being Governor of a major oil state...

no I don't think we need another 4 yrs.  enough blood has been shed over greed.  Iraqi people want us gone.  about a million Iraqi citizens dead, and about 5 million orphans, 70 percent of Iraq is without fresh water, not to mention the epidemics: Hepatitis  A and B and Typhoid...

I am the mother of a special needs child, and I am concerned for her child and her mental health.  I had to quit a job to take care of the needs of my child.  her husband seems to be a busy man too, according to her speech.

  7. you have to know God to speak about God...Yes this is what we need...we don't need a community organizer and his muslim/black ideology/christian religion...

  8. religion is the cause of all problems........you just figured out now?

  9. so you think defending American isn't a task from God...you do understand that the revolutionary war many people preached it was teh duty of a Christian to push off the tyranny of England...besides what would be a task from God...we aren't imperialists...we are protecting our interests by attacking our enemy and building a country from scratch that could help destabilize extremism in the middle east...i think you are just reading too much into it...

Resistance to Tyranny as a Christian Duty

Jonathan Mayhew delivered this sermon--one of the most influential in American history--on the anniversary of the execution of Charles I. In it, he explored the idea that Christians were obliged to suffer under an oppressive ruler, as some Anglicans argued. Mayhew asserted that resistance to a tyrant was a "glorious" Christian duty. In offering moral sanction for political and military resistance, Mayhew anticipated the position that most ministers took during the conflict with Britain.

  10. yes, most solders are prideful .

  11. Yes this is quite scary and I think this new breed of Republicanism doesn't keep consistent with our idea of the 1st Amendment (separation of church and state).

  12. LOL.....You are NOT a Conservative Republican

    Palin is ALL about America

    Obama is ALL about Obama

The DNC chanted for THEIR " CELEBRITY "  by saying " Obama....Obama...Obama "

The RNC chanted for OUR COUNTRY by saying " USA....USA.....USA "

You sound like you don't know any more about God than you do about Soldiers ?

  13. Her kids were totally adorable!   You libs are really trying every angle you can think of to destroy this great woman, aren't you!!  But you can't!  She is awesome an we all see it :)

  14. she probably meant we were led by god to go fight for our freedoms and our fallen brothers...i dont see anything wrong with it...

we didnt start this war but we will finish it!

  15. She is just as nuts as all the fanatical Muslims!

  16. So when anybody invokes this mythical creator in a war, they automatically become Bush.

George W. Bush has apparently been with us since the founding of this country.

  17. "Task that is from from God" must be her's and the Evangelical's equivalent of the radical muslim's "Allahu Akbar" - God is Great.

Repressive religious groups always claim a special communication with god.

To me Evangelicals always come across as the US version of the Taliban.

  18. Troops are in IRAQ because the GOP, BUSH, CHENEY, McCain and company are on a TASK TO OBTAIN THEIR GOD "WEALTH"..

She must have gone POLAR BEAR diving one to many times..cause her thinking is frozen on Hitler mode.

  19. Why not? The crazy Muslims are on a task from Allah

  20. No

  21. two things:

review the Old Testament (there were a fair number of wars with God's direction there)

Sarah has a SON over there (until or unless you do, WHAT gives you the right to question her)...

EDIT: I'm not sure if RC's are allowed to read the Old Testament, if you are (or ask a priest) you will notice MANY battles against nations that God directed his people and his OWN direct intervention.

If you have served in the military at you DO deserve to criticize another person serving, having served or one of their parents...my beef is with people who haven't but somehow consider themselves both decision makers and commanders...
