Trophee Hassan II winner Michael Hoey on a marketing spree for Irish Open at Royal Portrush
Latest winner on the European Tour, Michael Hoey has now hopped on a marketing campaign for the European Tour for the upcoming event in Ireland, in a bid to promote the sport in his home country.
Hoey has now qualified to be part of the field at the star-studded Irish Open scheduled from June 28 to July 1 after a mammoth success in last week’s Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.

Club.
He said, “The Irish Open is one of the biggest tournaments of the year and if we can get the same kinds of crowds as we had in Killarney it will be amazing”.
Hoey is not just promoting the event, he is also working diligently to get tickets for his friends and relatives for the event.
The 33 year old from Ballymoney carded last two rounds of seven-under, 65 to thrash the field at the Golf du Palais Royal in the Moroccan city of Agadir, bagging prize money of € 250,000.
He added, “I’ve certainly had far too many ticket requests to cope with already and I’ve had to start turning people down – so my advice to them would be to get online and get their discounted tickets this week”.
Hoey is one of the success stories to come out of the Northern Irish Republic and has no fewer than four European Tour titles to his credit.
After turning professional in the year 2002, Hoey has gone over to win seven professional titles in his grizzled career and is now contemplating to land the Irish Open at Portrush, which is returning to the scenic venue after 1953.
Hoey said, “For me the Irish Open has always been like The Open, and now that it’s coming to Portrush it will be every bit as important at The Open this year”.
European Tour has already announced that the tickets for the first two rounds are sold out. Tour officials are expecting a bumper turn out of spectators over the weekend.
