Question:

Tropical feel in a hermit crab tank?

Right now I am keeping my two hermit crabs in an extra extra large critter keeper. And when I say extra large, I mean five gallons (about).

I want my tank to have a tropical feel, but I am worried about putting fish toys in my tank because I don't want the paint to chip off and one of the crabs eat it.

Right now in the cage I have sand, a climbing grid, a few fake plants, some extra shells, some sticks, a sponge (for humidity) the food and water dish, and the two crabs (duh.)

What can I add to give it that beachy feel? And where do I buy crab safe toys?

  1. when i had my hermit crabs i had lots of sand and deep water with one real plant and a coconut shelter, random plants and shells from the ocean. in the water i had 1 male guppie and a water filter (this works better with a bigger tanks if you can get one)
