Tropical storm fay's projection?

Question

i live on the southwest coast...which is basically where it's projected to.

i'm used to super bad hurricanes. do you think fay will turn into at least a category 3 hurricane? or is too early to tell?

I don't think it's going to be a really bad hurricane, IF it turns into a hurricane. I live on the coast that it is forecasted to hit. I am preparing and keeping an eye on the storm, but not panicking. Just be prepared, and keep an eye on the storm cause we never know with these things.

I do not think it will turn in to a cat 3.  After it moves north of Cuba it doesn't have that much water to gain strength.  Depending on the speed and direction it may not have time to gain strength to a cat 3.  If the tack changes or it slows down then it can strengthen in hot open waters.  To follow the tack of it look at this website. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml#FAY

I believe Fay will stregnthen to a catagory 1 but no more than a very weak catagory 2.
