  1. Thankfully no. In fact the rains may prove beneficial to places in Central Florida like Lake Okeechobee (which is three feet below normal) and there are water shortages. Anyways this is all in retrospect; it's difficult to predict how much a storm will strengthen before landfall so the caution and 'hype' are warranted.  Don't forget Hurricane Charley of 2004.

  2. I'm going to have to disagree with you.  Even though it is a strong tropical storm, you shouldn't take it lightly.  I know Charley was way stronger, but tropical storms can do damage.  The number one weather related killer in the country is flooding, not wind.  I saw on the weather channel where a guy was kite surfing and the wind picked him up and threw him against a building and he suffered broken bones.  He was probably like you and wasn't worried.

  3. So far the storm has killed 110 people, I would not call that "not bad" but hope everyone else stayed safe.

  4. I was disappointed with the tropical storm because we didn't get any rain and the winds were low. I was hoping to film that storm. Hopefully the other tropical system in the Atlantic will get us.

  5. I am sitting in the middle of it right now in central Florida and it doesn't feel like nothing!! Very intense winds and rains, but moving on past us this evening thankfully. But yes, I am very pleased as it could have been a whole lot worse.

  6. Tropical Storm Fay was expected to become a Hurricane after sweeping over Cuba in the direction of the Florida Keys. It was then predicted to gain strength farther out west into the Gulf of Mexico. A slight turn to the East and then toward the North moved Fay into the Florida Peninsula where she never materialized into a Hurricane. Florida dodged a bullet and we should be grateful.

However in the Caribbean, Fay was devastating, killing 54 people and injuring hundreds.

Forecasters cannot predict the exact location and strength of these storms as they make their way throughout the world, but they keep the public aware and informed of the potential each of them represent.

That is why Hurricanes, Typhoons and Tropical Cyclones are so hard to predict.
