Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott dominated the Australian bowlers yet again in the first session of the second day of the second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval, carrying their strong performance on from the first encounter at
Brisbane. At Lunch, England was in a comfortable position at 90 runs for the loss of one wicket.
The English pair has added 87 runs for the second wicket partnership. In doing so, the duo ensured that the visitors do not replicate their first innings performance of the first Test at the Gabba. In the start, the pair played
watchfully as England lost their Captain in the first over of the day. As the innings progressed, the pair opened up as they dominated the scene in front of a packed crowd.
Andrew Strauss was the only wicket to fall in the lunch session. The English Captain only managed to score a run, before he was undone by a beautiful delivery and the scorecard read 3 for 1.
Alastair Cook looked confident right from the start of his innings, despite an early loss. The left hander scored most of his runs right in front of the wicket to negate any amount of uncertainty in his stroke-play. In the process,
Cook gathered 35 runs and is all set to make a massive individual score.
Trott was in a positive frame of mind as he gathered his 39 runs in confident manner. The right hander started off in Adelaide from where he left off in Brisbane.
The start for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 was perfect as they registered their first wicket on the third ball of the first over of the second day. But apart from this start, it was hard work for the Australian bowlers in the heat of Adelaide.
The wicket appeared to be a batting paradise. It is certainly not a 245-run surface. A poor batting performance in the first innings from the Australian batsmen did not help the cause of their bowlers.
Doug Bollinger was the sole wicket taker as he brought about the downfall of the English Captain, Andrew Strauss with a peach of a delivery. The ball pitched in line with the off-stump, Strauss misjudged it as he left it on a length;
the delivery held its line and took the off bail on the way to the wicket keeper.
England is trailing by another 155 runs. Jonathan Trott and Alastair Cook have looked confident in their 87-run stand. Australia has to break this partnership as quickly as possible, if they want to make a match out of it.
