sometimes when i take a shot of vodka or something, my throat and stomach burn so bad i feel like throwing up and i cant talk but after a couple minutes im completly fine. most of the time i can drink with no trouble, i think im just doing it wrong. what i do is get a bit of chaser in my mouth just enough to get the taste on my tongue, than i throw the shot to the back of my throat, swallow it all in one gulp, than drink some more chaser.

what could i be doing wrong?

dont tell me not to take shots or anything cause that doesnt answer my question

  1. that's what i do when i take shots, and i take alot of them so.

maybe the alcohol is too strong, its liek heartburn i use to get it, maybe it will just take some time/practice.

that sounds so wrong hah. good luck

  2. just stop bein a p***y and take it im 14 and i can take it i bet u can but uhh just slowly drink ur chasers and u will probally feel better

  3. It sounds like you're not used to the strength of the vodka yet. If that's the case, you will get used to it over time. Another problem could be that you're slightly allergic to the ingredients in vodka, or even alchohol itself.

  4. Sometimes are harder than others. I don't know why. The only thing I see that you could possibly be doing wrong is breathing after the shot but before the chaser. Take a deep breath, out through your nose, then shoot, then chase, then breath. If you breath in directly after the shot, it does tend to burn more. Once again, don't know why.

  5. your problem is cheap vodka. buy yourself a bottle of RUSSIAN STANDARD vodka; this stuff is great for shooting (i know cause it was a russian that told me about it). also.... NO CHASER.. if you want to chase shoot tequila with salt and lime

  6. The same thing used to happen to me when I did shots of Everclear without a chaser (which I don't recommend---it's not the kindest thing to do to your esophagus). It could be a few different things:

Have you had enough food in your stomach the times that this has happened? If you haven't eaten enough (obviously), it may make you feel a bit queasy.

How much did you have to drink before you took the shot?  If I'd already had a lot to drink, the shot seemed to send it overboard. Oddly, if I hadn't had much to drink at all, I thought about it too much and that seemed to make it worse.

What brand of vodka are you drinking? Cheap vodka isn't as nice  =]  Same with everclear (however, it was all we poor college kids could afford at the time).

I would suggest either trying not to think about what you're about to drink and just concentrate on the warm fuzzies that will follow, or try different liquors to find something that you really enjoy the taste of. That might make taking shots a bit easier (I personally enjoy Jagermeister). ; )

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  7. Alcohol burns.  Make sure you are not breathing at the same time as swallowing, if that makes sense.  But it's normal to burn somewhat!

  8. Vodka burns but i take it well
