am a 25 yr old male and as long as i can remember i have had a problem with listening to people without zoning out and trouble finding words to express my self in a normal conversation. i have noticed that certain people make these symptoms worse and then some people i have no problem at all with. when reading i have to at times reread sentences because of my wondering mind. i also have trouble remebering names and simple things. so of course this has lowered my confindense in myself and it feels like torture. i feel so self conscious and miserable, i think it might be add or depression or something, if anyone can help me figure out this dilema i would greatly appreciate it.

  1. It might be something purely medical, but probably will have a lot to do with your diet as well. Even if you have some kind of condition (such as ADD), looking after your diet (especially drinking plenty of water) will likely reduce these symptoms, as well.

  2. The zoning out and wandering mind

can be otherwise known as a form of dissociation = to pull away from the here and now.

There is a very broad scale of symptoms and implications in the categories of Dissociative Identity Disorders.

    Everyone zones-out sometime

People who can't get it under control are the ones with a serious problem.

This can be improved with professional therapy.

  3. Wow that sounds like an awful lot like me.  I have the same problems and I happen to take adderall because I am Narcoleptic and it helps greatly with the issues you described.  I have told my Dr about it and he said that I could have a case of Adult ADD.  I havent taken a test to prove it because the medicine works for me and the Dr said for that reason it was not necessary unless I really wanted to be tested.  Make an appointment with your Dr.

  4. add? attention deficit disorder maybe?
