Has anyone had any experience with passport/visa checking when leaving Spain with an expired visa? Fines? Blacklisting? Any sort of trouble? Any help or stories would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Hi, no you will not have any trouble for overstaying at least from Spanish authorities and airlines/airport boarding the plane. They are much more strict and now picki in the States but since you are American do not think they give you any grief. If you are leaving Spain, the government of Spain would be wasting a lot of time and money giving you any problems since if they processed you then they would have to repatriate you at their own expenses, so if you need a free flight then you can rat on yourself at any local comisaria and they might star repatriation procedure, or most porbably tell you to get lost.

If you are really worried call the American embassy, sound naive, and they will inform you and set you up so there is no problem...if there were any, which I do not think so.
