I just moved to a new apartment and can hear all kinds of noises (plumbing, etc), I also live on a main street and can hear the traffic which isn't as bad as hearing plumbing noises. any ideas or advice on how to tune it all out?

  1. Any way you can fix the plumbing? I would suggest you move somewhere else. Noise like plumbing makes it seem as if it's not well-built. You could wear ear plugs but that would also tune out sounds like alarm clocks and people shouting in the event of a emergency like fire!! Not a good idea!

  2. get a small fan that you can move the direction and speed and leave it on by your bed side...

  3. more than likely those are sounds you'll just get used to. I went from living in rural nowhere to the middle of boston-i couldn't sleep for a month.  then, i just got used to the noises.  try falling asleep with the tv on with the sleep timer set...you'll get used to hearing noise and soon will fall asleep without any problem.  perhaps try taking something like night time tylenol or something to help you fall asleep for a few nights, but you should really just get used to them.
