Question:

Trouble sleeping (serious problem)

When I was smaller for a while I had night terrors. They stopped and another problem started. Sometimes at night I will wake up in the middle of sleeping and I will look around for like 5 or 10 seconds and then my eyes stop on one thing and I can't move them. Sometimes mild hallucinations occurs like the room going pitch dark except for the spot I am looking at it might glow a certain color or something. Sometimes I might hear things that most definately aren't there like tribal screams and low roars and growls. My body becomes fully paralyzed and I can't move a single muscle. Fighting the state I'm in when this occurs only prolongs the point of relief when my body becomes limp and relaxed. After this all happens, I feel really really paranoid like I'm not safe anywhere. In this case I spend my time in my covers staring at the door and looking around the room in fear.

I want to have less of these nights. Can anyone out there help me?

  1. read a book

  2. This sounds like a really bad symptom of anxiety. I have a friend that has similar reactions while sleeping. He feels paralyzed but can sense everything, just not move. Have you ever had anxiety problems before? Have you talked to a doctor about this? It seems like it has something to do with anxiety though. There are some great anti-anxiety medications out there, maybe you should ask your doctor about your options. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
