Trouble with Windows Movie Maker?

Whenever I try to import videos from my camera it breaks the videos into different sections to make them smaller, there appears to be no pattern to it. I can only watch the first piece of the selected video. I also can't edit any of the video that DOES work. It's in windows media format, why isn't it working? I tried it with the filters on/off.

Its something Microsoft installed to try to help you, but yes I know, it only makes matters worse.

An easy way around this is to just select all of the segments of video, and then drag them right onto the Timeline. They're all in chronological order. You can edit it from there.
