Having trouble with air conditioner? It is running but with a very low flow of air. Sure enough, I go outside and the air compressor isn't running.

Any suggestions on what i should be looking for as I try to fix it.

  1. the gas in the compressor might have exhausted.

  2. try  set you remote to a lower adjustment maybe 16 degree if outside condenser still not come you may have to call professional to look at electrical in your condenser it may be you circuit board that gone bad too

  3. Well, that's not actually a air compressor.

You must have a problem with the handler's fan in the house the way you are describing the problem.

Now, let's get away from the lack of flow of air description.

You may have a breaker out, a capicitor or stator, or the compressor itself go bad in the condensing unit.

    Bad compacitors are common.

As a matter of fact, I had to replace mine and it was 10 bucks wholesale.

It wouldn't be much more than that retail.

  4. HVAC Tech.: The way you have described the problem my solution would be for you to call a technician and let him impress you with all his gages and meters while he tracks down what seems like more than one problem. Sorry I don't know a cheaper way to help you!

  5. Sounds like a capacitor or contactor, your air flow tells me your indoor fan is running so that isnt your problem.

Most of my service calls are on contactors. Ants love contactors on the outside unit and get in between contacts.
