Question:

Trouble with contacts?

I got contacts back in October of 2006 and they were wonderful until October of 2007. In late '07 I began to became sensitive to light, but my doctor told me it was just something contact wearers experience, so I continued to wear them. At the beginning of 2008 I switched from O2 Optix to Acuvue Oasys because of pain I experienced when I took my contacts out. The pain would get so bad that I couldn't hold my eyes open for more than 2-5 minutes throughout the course of a day or two. Now I've taken a break from contacts for 2 weeks and after wearing them today my eyes (basically the right one) is almost as bloodshot as it was before I stopped wearing them for 2 weeks.

I've heard of the scratched cornea thing and my eye doctor told me about 2 months ago that even though I had pain they weren't really scratched.

What's going on? How can I prevent my eyes from completely rejecting contacts?

  1. I have Acuvue 2 colours. When I first got them back in Feb. 08 I experience a little irritaion.  Now they are just fine. If your contact has any little knick, tear, or rip, it could scratch your cornea and you will never be able to wear contacts again. That is what my doctor told me. Some knicks or tears are very hard to see so watch out. Also make sure you are cleaning them correctly. If there is dirt or an eye lash or anything in the contact, it could cause pain. Or maybe your eyes won't tolerate contacts. I have a few friends that had contacts, but their eyes can't deal with them. Other than that, I just don't know what could be the problem. Hope that helps

  2. my eyes did that and i just rook my contacts out for a few days and put eye drops in my eye every hours and when they started to hurt

you may need to ask ur eye doctor what is wrong

  3. Rest your eyes!

  4. get a second opinion, and go to an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist as soon as you can.
