Trouble with my Internet Explorer address bar?

When I try to type in a web address into the address bar, and then hit enter, Internet Explorer basically freezes and then I have to close it. If I do a search I can get to the sites I want, but this is less than convienient. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Oh, I also have Comcast. I know, not a good move.

Are you using Vista? This is a very common problem with Vista

to speed up load times, hit windows logo key then type cmd then press

ctrl+shift+enter to open command prompt as administrator

at the command prompt type

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted

to put it back to default setting

netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
