  1. when you swing your arm around to go into it bend down and try to sit down and  try to put your leg out.

TRy and listen to your coaches advice. Not good advice? Maybe Switch coaches.

  2. Ever heard of a shoot the duck? You glide forwards or backwards on your skate, squatting at first, then you lift your right leg up. Work on doing this without falling while getting down, gliding, and getting up. Backwards really helps the most with sit spins, but if you never did this before, then start with forwards. If you found my explanation confusing, just look up shoot the duck on google or yahoo or any search engine. I hope this was the answer you're looking for.

  3. Just remember to bend your skating knee. I use to have the same problem. I thought that I was never going to get it, but once I was told to just bend my knee, I got it.

    Hope I helped.

    Good luck!

  4. You have to try really hard each spin to push it down (this will help build up those muscles)  - remember once you get that far down, it's not far to fall.

You need to make sure that when you bend your waist that your shoulders do not go beyond your skating knee.  Your shoulders should be above your spinning leg midway between your hip and knee - that should help you tuck your bum.

You need a ton of speed in this spin in order to hold the position as well.  You should have two snaps - one with your leading arm and one when your other arm snaps together with the lead arm. Your leg should snap together (with the toe pointed out) at the same time as the second arm.

  5. Okay, first off everyone's tips are excellent. Listen to them too.

Shoot the ducks are good practices. But remember, shoot the ducks only go in a straight line, so your back needs to be arched over in order to keep moving. But in your sit spin the centripetal force of the spin will keep you upright. So go into your sit spin with a snap, and squeeze your thighs together. Keep your arms together out straight, and point your toe. The more speed you have, the more centripetal force there is, resulting in a more likely chance that you will keep spinning longer.

If you are having trouble with leveling your bottom (Sorry if that sounds wrong) then it may be because your thighs are not strong enough yet to hold up all the weight. I had that trouble too. So what you should do along with practicing your spins on ice is doing shoot the ducks on and off ice (when you do them off ice try to straighten your back a little more), and doing leg squats (where your legs are at 90 degrees angles). That should help strengthening.

    And that is about it!

Remember, sometimes people's tips (including myself) won't help you do the spin, but will hopefully give you an extra boost of confidence and  determination to do this spin.

I hope this helps, and good luck!

  6. well. my coach told me to pull the spinning leg UNDER your body. sit back a little and keep your free leg UP. remember to turn ur free leg out. this should help cuz i had similar problems and my coach's advice helped
