I got a 13 week old boxer yesterday, and he was so energetic. But then today its like he went from an energetic 13 week old to a lazy 72 year old. He won't eat play or anything and we took him to the vet but he said he will see him tomorrow. He also has diarrhea. Please help, i want to do something about it before its too late!

  1. a tired dog is a happy dog......ans about the diarrhea maybe his diet is'nt right .....

  2. Take your puppy to the vet immediately sounds like Parvo!!!!  I had a puppy which we got for Christmas and did exactly what you are saying your puppy is doing.  We had to spend an arm and a leg to take him to the emergency vet where for a week he tittered between life and death.  He did pull thru...but please react quickly

  3. Make sure he has pently of fluids down him even if u have to syringe it down him cause they can get dehydrated  very quicky.Try another vet.Good luck.

  4. Take him to another vet! If your dog has changed his behavior this much, this fast, it could be something as simple as a tummy-ache, but it could be something as serious as Parvovirus or coccidiosis. Is he current on all of his shots? Did you get him from a reputable breeder? Good luck with your dog. Parvo can be very expensive to treat.

  5. Did you change his food when you brought him home?  This could be the culprit if that's the case.  It is also pretty normal for a puppy to feel depressed the first few days in it's new home.  I'm glad you're taking him to the vet tomorrow though, as it could be (worse case scenario) parvo.

  6. It could be a lot of things. Where did you get the puppy? Has it had any shots or vet care? Where did you bring it yesterday (parks, friends, etc.) It could be parvo but the vet wouldn't have sent it home. He could just not feel good. Are you leaving water down all the time? What/how much are you feeding him? You should never leave water down for a puppy because they don't know when to stop and will over drink. This will give them diarrhea and upset their stomachs.

Boxers are very hyper and stubborn dogs. They are great pets and love people. The are known to get cold very easy too. Prepared for him to be energetic for the next 7 years or more.

  7. Sounds like the puppy is dehydrated and needs fluid replenishment. In the mean time feed him a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice. Put an Ice cube or two in a water bowl and let him l**k it. It's the water in small amounts that will not aggravate him. Pepcid is a med you might be able to keep on hand but ask the doctor

  8. go to another vet. im a vet assistant so you should listen up!!!!!! if he has diahrea and its bloody with his vomit clear he has some type of worms. if both vomit and diherea is bloody he may have parvo. and if i was you id take him right now cuz tommarrow it maybe too late also keep him on fluids, keep trying to feed him even if you have to force him. if he cant keep it down its okay dont panic hes still getting something in there. also if he looks and feels cold wrap him up in a warm blanket, and go to the vet now!!!!!!!!!

  9. sound like you need emergency vet... read my blog on parvo, print it out and go to the vet or at very least start hydration.. It could be woms but it sounds very much like parvo.

  10. it sounds like a bacteria; my dog had the same thing the day after we brought her home. where did you get her from? in some cases; it can be a case of kennel cough that was untreated while in the pet store or in the shelter. It gets worse over time, and they don't always treat it right away because its not noticeable to them since they have so many other animals around. They put my dog on antibiotics, and made her eat wet food for a couple of weeks before she went for a check up again. get the dog checked as soon as possible. make sure that there is water around at all times. the best you can do until you get to a vet is keep the dog hydrated; since it looses so much in the diarrhea.
