I select the rounded rectangular tool and select the section of the photo I want but the area doesn't fill with a color. Is it because my image opens as a layer 1 and not a background image? I have tried everything but can't figure it out. here is a link to the tutorial so maybe it'll be easier to understand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiPbFIb6-CY In the video when the area is selected it fills with red but when I do that the picture stays the same. Thanks in advance.

  1. When you select the rectangular tool, the menu options will change, just make sure the "Fill Pixels" button is clicked. It will then fill the box with the foreground color when you make a shape
