My niece, who is 22 months, has always been fine about riding in the car, and getting in her car seat. But lately, I would say within the last week she clings on to me, I mean like death grip, and then when I get her unclinged from me, she arches her back, which makes it impossible to strap her in. Why is she doing this all of a sudden, and how can I get her to stop??

  1. fasten the seat belt and give some toy to be busy

  2. kids do that sometimes. they just get bored. buckle the crotch buckle first, this will help and when she arches her back, you'll be able to buckle the rest of the straps. maybe find some little toys to entertain her while she's in the car (matchbox cars are awesome and only .99) get her excited for car rides... talk about what you see out the window, what sounds cars make (beep beep vroom vroom haha) etc. it's just a phase, she'll grow out of it

  3. HELLO, she don't like the car seat...maybe she don't like the car...get you a Harley, put the brat on the gas tank and ride..she will love it and you don't need a car seat...Might want to get her one of those Mickey Mouse bicycle helments the preppies use just in case you drop the bike...Good Luck.

  4. dont give her a chance to grab on to you, mabie hold her on her back and feed her while walking to the carseat to distract her

  5. some kids just decide that they don't like to be in the car seat.  2 of my 3 have done this.  You just try to get really quick about buckling and try to do the buckle by the crotch first because it will help you with the arching.  It sort of prevents them from moving into that position.  Good luck!

  6. My favorite way to speed up my girls in a fun manner is to make it a race.  Get a little timer and tell her your going to see how fast she can get into her seat.  I have two girls who LOVE to "win" getting into thier car seats among other things.

  7. sing a song that goes like this:

Buckle up for safety! Vroom vroom goes the car! Buckle up for safety!

It will distract her from her problems once you start to sing
