  1. It is only recommended that your baby sleep on his back.  If you're vigilant about watching your baby's sleeping habits your baby will be fine.  I wouldn't recommend putting your child to sleep in a crib in his own room by himself on his side or tummy.  My daughter sleeps best most often on her tummy so I let her.  I put her to sleep with her binky (thought to aid in the prevention of SIDS) and listen to her breathing.  We co-sleep so I am very in tune with her without losing any sleep.  She is my 4th so I'm pretty good at this. :0]

  2. My son has always been a side sleeper, I placed him on his back and he rolled himself to his side. I just rolled up a blanket and put it in front of him from his arm pit down to keep him from rolling on his tummy. He is know strong enough that I don't worry about it though.

  3. My daughters never been a back sleeper..she prefers her tummy..or her side..sleeping on his side won't affect him any..

  4. You can get a side sleeper from a baby store. they stop the baby from rolling onto their tummy. Its two pillows and the baby lies in the middle. Babby cant roll when hes in them. I have one for my daughter and they are wondeful

  5. whether back, side or tummy, always use caution and keep things clear of breathing space, and keep blankets clear as well. there are great infant sleeping 'wedges' normally found in any infant section in the retail store like target or walmart. a bit added security
