As a technician you are sent to troubleshoot a workstation that is unable to access the Internet. All companys workstations are set to automatically obtain an IP address from the companys DHCP server. An IPCONFIG /ALL command reveals that the computer has the IP address 169.254.0.2.No other users in the organization has reported any problems similar to this one. What is the FIRST thing you should check?

A. That there is free addresses in the DHCP pool.

B. That the network adapter has the correct device drivers installed.

C. That the network cable is plugged into the computer.

D. Ask someone with the right privileges is the router is functioning properly.

  3. The address you stated is an APIPA address, generated internally by the PC itself. This happens when a DHCP client cannot access the DHCP server for some reason.

    I would check C first, but the other answers are also valid checks to make.

  5. C.  The IP address you are quoting is not one you'd normally find on eithe an Enterprise or Home subnet.
