Troubleshoot sharing files?

one computer is inaccessable from all the other computers on my network. It cannot be pinged also. i have tried disabling my mcafee and firewall. it has a unique name and a correct (static)ip address and a correct network name. pleaes help

  1. If it is XP, then right click on a folder, go to the sharing tab, and click the link that should appear at the bottom to allow sharing.

    You can also run the home networking wizard.

    If in vista go to networking and sharing center and make sure network discovery is on, folder sharing is on, and password protected sharing is off.

Make sure the RJ45 network cable is plugged in on that computer also go to the network properties of the computer and see if it is not disable. check your network maybe it could be that you are using different range of ip address.it could be static but make sure the range is correct for the network try to ping the computer by its name and if it replies right above it there will be the ip address for the computer. maybe that will help you then you can acess you file sharing by either entering the computer by its name or ip addrress eg: \\192.168.254.63 or \\Desktop
